There were rumors going on about Huawei is going to acquire Nokia in recent days. Rumors originated by a statement made by Huawei’s head of Consumer Business, Richard Yu saying “We are considering these sorts of acquisitions; maybe the combination has some synergies but depends on the willingness of Nokia. We are open-minded.” But Huawei’s has now denied those rumors saying “Huawei has no plans to acquire Nokia”. Also Nokia has denied this rumor.
However thinking about the secrecy of this type of acquisitions in recent days, at Huaweinews.com we aren’t convinced at the fact that this is not going to happen. There might be internal discussions going on about this and Huawei is big enough now shell the cash out and acquire a struggling company like Nokia. Remember when Lenovo bought IBM’s PC Business? Nobody thought Lenovo is big enough to acquire such a big company. Also given the Microsoft’s partnership with Nokia, they might be interested in Nokia as well.
If Huawei really goes ahead and buy Nokia it might really be positive news because Huawei might really make the change that Nokia needs right now to be back on the game again. Also after these rumors, Nokia stocks (NOK) went up slightly about 4% on New York Stock exchange. Stay tuned for more coverage about this
