Huawei is going to build a $200 million research and development facility in the United Kingdom. This was announced and finalized during the UK chancellor George Osborne’s (pictured above) visit to the United Kingdom. George Osborne has met the Huawei chief Ren Zhengfei (pictured above) in Huawei’s head office and said to held private meetings.
However the UK parliament won’t be much happy about this step because they have opposed and called for reviews on Huawei networking equipment earlier this year. Osborne has replied to the critics saying,
“I know that there are some countries which are a little bit nervous of Huawei. That is not the United Kingdom.
“I think Huawei is a fantastic company with a great future – and a great future in the United Kingdom.”
Huawei already employs about 80 R&D Engineers in the Huawei UK office but this amount will increase up to 300 when the facility will be completed by 2017. Huawei has reported that they are going to create over 5500 jobs over the next few years in Europe.
Just like Samsung setup R&D and production facilities in USA, this is also great news to hear and we can expect greater devices from Huawei in the future.
