Ascend P1 is the most popular and also most neglected smartphone of Huawei. Huawei has failed to deliver an Android 4.2.2 firmware update until now and thanks to the third party developers, We have few custom ROM’s like this one with Android 4.3 http://huaweinews.com/2013/09/android-4-3-jelly-bean-rom-ascend-p1/
Yesterday XDA forum member “spanorg” has managed to port CyanogenMod 11 to Ascend P1 and P1XL. CyanogenMod 11 is based on Android 4.4 and only few devices are officially supported at the moment. According to the developer of this custom ROM, its still in Alpha phase and you won’t be able to use it as a daily driver. But since its only 2 days old, we guess things will improve over time.
Developer reports that there are display glitches as you see on the above screenshots. But some users are reporting that they don’t have that problem. Bluetooth is listed as not working and apparently you can install .apk files too.
This ROM is at early stage and we don’t recommend installing this now unless you want to get your hands dirty! However its nice to see this kind of interesting development and we will be watching this project and updating this site as time goes on.
