ARM (ARM Holdings plc) is the designer of almost all the smartphone processors out there. ARM designs the processor architecture and decides how it should be and what kind of instruction set that it needs to support. Then other manufacturers are open to improve and use their own techniques to build processors around the ARM’s technology and designs. Samsung,Qualcomm and Huawei uses ARM’s designs on their processors and improve it by using their own fabrication techniques and such. ARM also designs GPU’s for the processors and its named “ARM Mali”

Yesterday ARM’s Chinese Weibo account released information about a upcoming CPU called Huawei Hisilicon Kirin 910 with their ARM Mali-450 GPU. And they have posted a demonstration device with this new CPU and surprisingly it looks like Ascend P6. Since Ascend P6 and P6S has mostly same appearance  and according to our yesterday’s article about Ascend P6S information getting leaked with information about Mali-450 GPU http://huaweinews.com/2013/11/ascend-p6s-specs-not-octa-core/ we guess Coretex A9, HiSilicon Kirin 910 will be the processor powering the upcoming Ascend P6S.

According to the information we received, this new HiSilicon Kirin 910 will be the same HiSilicon K3V2 processor with improvements such as, being 100Mhz faster (1.6Ghz instead of 1.5Ghz) and built on 28nm fabrication process instead of 40nm. And using ARM Mali-450 CPU instead of K3V2′s Vivante.

Unfortunately Ascend P6S will be a mid range performance device and no major improvements can be seen. We can consider ARM Mali-450 as a heads up because users were reporting the graphic intensive tasks such as gaming to be slow on Vivante powered Ascend P6. Having ARM Mali-450 on board will make Ascend P6S compatible with most of the games and will get perfectly acceptable performance but without any bragging rights.

Original Weibo post is unfortunately removed probably after they understood the seriousness of this leak. But don’t worry! release day isn’t very far and we would have more information along the way soon.
