Well this is disappointing. We previously brought you the news about Ascend P6S having an 8 core processor but the excitement just went out of the drain. Before we get in to the actual news, here is our articles about Ascend P6S  in case if you missed anything.

First we reported about Ascend P6S benchmarks getting leaked – http://huaweinews.com/2013/10/ascend-p6s-with-k3v2plus/

8 Core Ascend P6S appeared in a Taobao web store listing – http://huaweinews.com/2013/10/ascend-p6s-taobao/

Ascend P6S got the Bluetooth certification – http://huaweinews.com/2013/11/ascend-p6s-bluetooth-sig/

And then yesterday we reported Ascend P6S will feature MediaTek 8 core processor – http://huaweinews.com/2013/11/ascend-p6s-octa-core-chipset/

That’s our official news breakdown for the Ascend P6S. If you read our yesterday’s article you might have saw that we mentioned the fact, Huawei likes to use their own chipset’s on their flagship phones. MediaTek’s new true 8 core processor is interesting but that processor is used and to be used on most of the Chinese super phones. That won’t give Huawei any competitive edge and brand name recognition. And also most of the news sites reported yesterday that Huawei is going to use MediaTek 8 core processor, saying their source is Huawei’s president. But we also mentioned on our yesterdays article that Huawei’s president didn’t mentioned anything about them using MediaTek 6592 true octa-core processor in Ascend P6S.

Today real specs and the photos of Ascend P6S got published on the  Chinese “Ministry of Equipment Certification Center” web site. That’s like FCC for China and every Chinese mobile phone goes through the verification there. Our first assumptions and leaked benchmarks proved right in this case. Huawei Ascend P6S indeed will get the improved version of HiSilicon K3V2 processor dubbed as K3V2+ or K3V2 pro. This new generation processor is mostly the same as K3V2 processor featured in Ascend P6 and the only difference is that its clocked at 1.6Ghz instead of 1.5Ghz on old K3V2. Also the manufacturing process has moved to 28nm from previous 40nm and that will help to improve battery life and the heat issues of old K3V2.

We all thought Ascend P6S will be little big bigger right? And we are all wrong. Ascend P6S has the same 4.7inch IPS LCD display with 720P resolution as the old Ascend P6. Other dimensions and even the weight remains the same as Ascend P6. RAM is 2GB ROM is 16GB and GPU has upgraded to ARM Mali-450. GPU is a true improvement because previously they used a Vivante GPU and that resulted many compatibility and performance issues with games. Switching to a popular and widely adopted ARM Mali GPU will help to overcome that situation.

At the time of passing this verification Ascend P6S had Android 4.2.2 on board but that might change when Huawei releases the device to the masses. Ascend P6S will most likely come with Emotion UI 2.0. Here are some pictures of the phone and the listing for your viewing pleasure
