About 2 months ago we wrote about the availability of Android 4.3 Cyanogenmod 10.1 custom ROM for Huawei Ascend Y300 and G510 http://huaweinews.com/2013/10/android-4-3-custom-rom-ascend-y300/. That ROM is built by the Modaco forum member “Dazzozo”. If you read the above mentioned post you can see that building Android 4.3 and Cyanogenmod ROM’s for Y300 and G510 got a quite story behind it.
Few days ago the same developer released an Android 4.4 custom ROM for the Y300 and G510 based on the CyanogenMod 11. As of right now this custom ROM went through few revisions and bug fixes so the most of the initial problems are ironed out. But this ROM is not for starters and playing with it might really brick your phone so be cautious and read the information thoroughly if you want to try this.
Here are the current issues officially mentioned by the developer ,
* New WebView often hangs for a while when loading a page – this is a widespread issue for many “legacy” devices
* Wi-Fi hotspot function is not working
Installation is done by ClockworkMod recovery and you need to run CM10.2 Android 4.3 prior installing this ROM on your Y300 or G510. Google Apps aren’t included but flashing it is very easy on CWM. Ascend Y300 running this Android 4.4 Kitkat ROM scored little over 6803 points in Antutu benchmark like you can see on the above screenshot.
Apart from the issues mentioned by the developer, we have seen some bugs mentioned by the users who installed this ROM already so we strongly advice reading through the thread to make sure about the current status and bugs. And again this ROM is not for starters at least on the moment of writing. But this will change in future as more bugs will be ironed out in the process.
