Chinese 4G LTE market is set to rise thanks to the 4G licenses issued to network carriers and China Mobile and China Unicom both are set to launch their 4G networks on December 18th this year. Huawei seems to joining to the party with a budget friendly 4G TD-LTE smartphone named Ascend G716. Pictures of upcoming G716 and the specifications were leaked on the Chinese baidu forums.
This pictured Ascend G716 is for the Unicom network and the front of it is similar to the Ascend G615. Back cover looks more like upcoming Ascend Mate 2. G716 is powered by a Qualcomm processor because Huawei’s own Hisilicon processors doesn’t support LTE features for now. This might change on the upcoming devices like Ascend P6S.
Here are the leaked specifications,
* Android version – 4.2.2
* Emotion UI version – 1.6
* Display – 5inch 720P IPS LCD
* Processor – Qualcomm MSM8930 1.2Ghz dual core / GPU – Adreno 305
* RAM – 1GB
* Camera – Main 8MP , Front unknown
* Network – GSM,TD-SCDMA,TD-LTE
* Battery – 2150 mAh user removable
the forum user who leaked these details have also posted benchmarks for this device and apparently on Antutu benchmark Ascend G716 scored 13917 points. On Vellamo HTML5 test it scored 1967 points and on vellamo “Metal chapter” which mainly tests the CPU, it scored 516 points.
Its ironic that Huawei is still using 2 generations behind Android 4.2.2 on their upcoming smartphones. If you read Huaweinews for the past few days you might have noticed that there are lots of upcoming phones from Huawei and we have yet to see a single phone which runs Android 4.3 or better. Huawei might come up with a international version of this budget 4G smartphone and it would be awesome if they can release it under $250 price point.
