It seems like Huawei’s Windows Phone’s are getting some update love from Huawei unlike Huawei’s Android smartphones. Huawei has announced the availability of Microsoft Windows Phone 8 General Distribution 3 (GDR3) Update for Huawei Ascend W1 China Unicom version (W1-U00). This is announced on Weibo social network and we aren’t exactly sure about when the international Ascend W1 will be updated but it won’t take much time for sure.

GDR3 update is the last update to Windows Phone 8 and it brings several improvements to the functionality of your phone and some new additions. Here are some of the new features you can expect,

* Screen rotation lock
* Driving mode
* Customized ring tones support
* Internet sharing over Bluetooth
* App switcher
* Categorized storage usage display

Huawei is been puching the update for Unicom Ascend W1’s at the moment and if your phone doesn’t automatically detects the update you can search for it by going in to “Phone Update” on the “Settings” menu and then follow the steps to download and install the update.
