Few days ago we brought you a Root guide for Ascend G510 http://huaweinews.com/2014/01/root-huawei-g510/ and we have promised that it would be a part of a series that we hope to bring you about Ascend G510. Ascend G510 or sometimes called Huawei G510 is still a capable phone for running Android 4.4 and an awesome developer at Modaco called “Dazzozo” is continually developing an Android 4.4 KitKat CyanogenMod 11 ROM for Ascend G510. We have previously wrote about his Y300 ROM and since its a long time and now almost all the bugs are fixed for both phones, we decided to write about the G510 version of his ROM on this article.

Here are some details about this G510 ROM

Based on  – CyanogenMod 11
Android version – 4.4.2
Requirements – CWM Recovery for Android 4.3+ and with Ext4 fix (see below)
Google Apps included – No

Like we mentioned earlier, development of this ROM started few months back and now it has become a stable enough ROM to use as your daily driver. Only issue seems to be power consumption is reported to be high for some users compared to the stock ROM. Since this ROM is pure Android (AOSP) it will run much faster than the stock firmware using less RAM. You will definitely be able to feel the difference in responsiveness if you switch to this ROM from stock firmware.

Google Apps need to be flashed separately as with all CyanogenMod based ROM’s. You have to use a CWM recovery which is compatible with Android 4.3+ and with Ext4 support but don’t worry its supplied on the forum thread. (link below)

If you are new to these custom ROM stuff here’s how to proceed,

1. Root and Unlock the Bootloader –  http://huaweinews.com/2014/01/root-huawei-g510/
2. Flash CWM recovery
3. Flash the ROM
