Huawei is already making high end smartphones like Ascend P6,P6S and D2 but when it comes to tablets, Huawei doesn’t have any high end tablets to compete with the other Android manufacturers. Following the leaks for past few days, it seems like Huawei is going enter the high end market segment by introducing a competitor for the Google Nexus 7.
‘MediaPad X1′ is the latest upcoming tablet from Huawei with some high end specifications like 1920 x 1200 resolution display and HiSilicon Kirin 910 processor which is the same featured on latest Ascend P6S. Yesterday a photo of MediaPad X1 (shown above) leaked on the internet showing the white color version of the X1. MediaPad X1 is in the middle and on left you can see a Iphone 5S and Galaxy Note 3 on the right.
About a week ago this new tablet went through the Chinese Tenna certification and they have revealed the specifications of this tablet on its web site. Here are the summery of the specifications,
Model – MediaPad X1 (7D-501u)
Processor – HiSilicon Kirin910 1.6Ghz Quad Core
RAM – 2GB
GPU – Mali 450
Display – 7inch 1920 x 1200 IPS LCD
Camera – 5MP primary and 1.3MP front
Connectivity – 3G HSPA / USB port / HDMI out
Available colors – Black/White
Dimensions – 183.5 x 103.9 x 7.5 mm 239g
Android version – 4.2.2
Even though the Android version is reported to be 4.2.2 it might be updated to a new version at the time of release. If Huawei can offer this for about $200 it will be a steal for a tablet with GSM connectivity. Inbuilt memory is not known yet but ‘Tenna’ certification results points out that there is a microSD expansion slot for expanding memory.
Release date is not known yet but we doubt if this will be released as a international device. However we are glad that Huawei named this tab as MediaPad X1 instead of giving this tab an awkward name like “MediaPad 7 Youth 2″
