If you own an Ascend Mate 2 you might already know that Android 4.4 KitKat alongside EMUi 2.3 is already available for the Mate 2’s Chinese variants including the Unicom version. International Ascend Mate 2 owners were waiting until the Android 4.4 KitKat official update and no official news were available until last few days.

Just about 2 days ago Huawei’s USA direct smartphone sales web site gethuawei.com announced that the Ascend Mate 2 won’t be getting Android 4.4 KitKat update according to their internal sources. These details were published on a blog post on the blog section of gethuawei.com with a sarcastic image as you can see below. We are attaching a screenshot of the web page because the blog post was deleted from the web site more than a day after publishing it.

We don’t know why Huawei decided to pull blog post from the web site but it could mean that this news is wrong and a update might be coming. Or it could also mean that they have decided to delete it due to the customer rage and sarcastic title it had when it was live. Even though the Android 4.4 KitKat won’t be coming to Mate 2, Huawei should have expressed the true reasons and asked for apologies from customers.

Ascend Mate 2 is just 9 months old and not even that old in USA because it was made available months after the international release. International Ascend Mate 2 is still running Android 4.3 and if you own a Mate 2 you may be stuck with more than a year old Android version if this news holds true.
