Huawei released its premier flagship smartphone Honor 6 (also known as Glory 6 in China) just about 4 months ago. Honor 6 took the crown from Huawei’s Ascend D series smartphones by having the most high end hardware in Huawei’s smartphone lineup. Original Honor 6 smartphone was powered by Huawei’s top of the line Kirin 920 octa core processor, packing some serious power to compete with Snapdragon 801< series and 3GB of RAM.

Today at a press conference in Beijing , Huawei unveiled the successor to Honor 6 smartphone named as “Honor 6 Extreme Edition”. The biggest difference in this new smartphone is that its powered by all new HiSilicon Kirin 928 processor which is clocked at 2Ghz. Original Honor 6’s Kirin 920 processor was clocked at 1.7Ghz and Kirin 928 might be just an over clocked version of Kirin 920 as both processors are using ARM Mali-T628MP4 GPU’s.

Apart from the difference of processor and NFC which wasn’t present on original Honor 6, Honor 6 Extreme Edition has almost identical hardware internals as the original Honor 6 including the 1080P display, 3100mAh battery and camera modules. Honor 6 Extreme Edition comes with 32GB internal memory as standard while you were able to choose from 16GB or 32GB variants of original Honor 6. Look of the both smartphones are same so you won’t be able to identify the Extreme Edition just by glancing at it.  When it comes to software, Honor 6 Extreme Edition ships with Android 4.4 KitKat paired with Emotion UI 3.0 while standard Honor 6 only has Emotion UI 2.3 as of right now.

So what’s going to make Honor 6 Extreme Edition different apart from the beefed up processor,NFC and other few features? Answer is Huawei is going to make only 9999 Honor 6 Extreme Edition smartphones and these phones come with some exclusive acccessories including Huawei’s custom designed earphones, 2 NFC tags, protective shell cover named “Road and Force” (Pictured below) and a 0.2mm thick tempered glass screen protector. This phone appears to be destined to Chinese region and preorders starts 21st October. Expected retail price is $481 so its about $100 expensive than the current Honor 6 smartphone.
