We know that you have been eagerly waiting for the Android Lolipop on your Ascend P7. Huawei is so late when it comes to delivering software updates, so what we can do is patiently wait for the Android 5.0 firmware update to arrive on our phones. But what about getting a glimpse of Android 5.0 right now? Thanks to the XDA forum member “Araca” you could get the looks of Android 5.0 at this very moment on your Ascend P7.
“Araca” made a custom ROM which has the looks and feel of Android Lolipop, for Ascend P7 based on Huawei’s official firmware B126. You might say that you could do this simply by downloading a launcher from Google play store but this goes way beyond that. Huawei’s EMUI theme engine is completely removed from this firmware and all of the Huawei default apps are removed.
Fonts,Boot Animation,Sounds,Lock screen are all sourced from the Android 5.0 and the developer has added AOSP and CyanogenMod default applications instead of using Huawei’s official ones so you get the complete feeling of running AOSP or CM without having all the troubles associated with those custom ROM’s. Being based of the B126 stock firmware, the issues should be minimal and you don’t have to worry about it much.
To install this firmware you must be running B126 or B133 EMUI 2.3 firmware on your Ascend P7 and you must have an unlocked bootloader with TWRP installed. ROM is pre-rooted and good to go after the installation.
Development is still going on so we encourage to read everything carefully over at the XDA forum thread to understand the issues associated with this custom ROM.
